NEW 160 - 320 slice CT machines are being installed across the Eastern Health network, allowing improved resolution and lower radiation dose.  Multi-slice CT uses powerful computer processing to reconstruct spirally-acquired xray information into multi-planar or 3D volume pictures. Oral and intravenous contrast improves both sensitivity and specificity of the study in many cases. CT is a mainstay of many medical specialties, and includes:

• CT perfusion brain imaging for rapid stroke analysis
• CT angiogram (CTA)
• CT IVP, CT KUB and CT-Renal
• 4-phase CT Liver
• Body imaging including drainage procedures
• Musculoskeletal imaging
